Abstract

Sustav upravljanja žičnom prugom (engl. wire rod mill) u procesu vrućeg valjanja
ključan je za proizvodnju visokokvalitetnih metalnih proizvoda poput bakrene žice. U
ovome radu istražen je i implementiran sustav upravljanja žičnom prugom kako bi se
omogućila precizna regulacija napetosti između valjaka, sinkronizacija brzine i optimizacija
protoka materijala. Implementacija se temelji na ABB AC 800PEC kontroleru,
SCADA sustavu i integraciji senzora i aktuatora putem standardiziranih komunikacijskih
protokola. Poseban naglasak stavljen je na izazove poput detekcije oštećenja materijala,
održavanje stabilnosti procesa i kontrolu napetosti materijala pri visokim brzinama.
Implementirani algoritmi kontrole omogućili su ispravan rad sustava, točno praćenje reference
brzine i nadzor cijeloga sustava. Rezultati pokazuju kako automatizacija doprinosi
optimizaciji procesa, smanjenju troškova i povećanju konkurentnosti industrije.
Ovaj rad naglašava važnost automatizacije za rješavanje složenih inženjerskih izazova u
industriji.

Abstract (english)

The control system for a wire rod mill in the hot rolling process is essential for the
production of high-quality metal products such as copper wire. This paper explores and
implements a system for a wire rod mill designed to enable precise tension regulation
between rollers, speed synchronization, and material flow optimization. The implementation
is based on the ABB AC 800PEC controller, SCADA system and the integration of
sensors and actuators through standardized communication protocols. Special emphasis
is placed on challenges such as defect detection, maintaining process stability, and
material tension control at high rolling speeds. The implemented control algorithms
have ensured the proper functioning of the system, accurate speed reference tracking
and overall system monitoring. The results show that automation contributes to process
optimization, cost reduction, and increased industrial competitiveness. This paper emphasizes
the importance of automation in solving complex engineering challenges in the
industry.
