Abstract

Rad se bavi distribucijom točnog vremena u računalnim mrežama. Opisuje se kako globalni navigacijski satelitski sustavi (GNSS) funkcioniraju na primjeru američkog GPS-a i na koji način ovi sustavi pružaju izvor točnog vremena. Računalni sustavi zaduženi su za distribuciju točnog vremena kojeg dobivaju od izvora kao što su GNSS i to postižu mrežnim protokolima namijenjenim usklađivanju vremena unutar računalne mreže. Navedene su primjene točnog vremena u raznim djelatnostima te važnost distribucije točnog vremena za moderne računalne sustave. U sklopu rada razvijena je web aplikacija za nadzor poslužitelja točnog vremena, opisane su arhitektura i funkcionalnosti aplikacije.

Abstract (english)

The paper deals with the distribution of accurate time in computer networks. It describes how global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) work, using the American GPS as an example. These systems provide an accurate time source for other systems to make use of. Computer systems are responsible for the distribution of accurate time they receive from sources such as the GNSS and achieve this through network protocols designed to synchronize time within a computer network. The applications of accurate time in various industries and the importance of accurate time distribution for modern computer systems are listed. A web application for monitoring a primary time server was developed as the practical part of this paper. Its architecture and functionalities are described in detail.
