Abstract

Općenito, postoje dvije vrste prekapčanja – tvrdo i mekano prekapčanje. Unutar LTE mreže koristi se samo tvrdo prekapčanje jer se implementacija mekanog prekapčanja iz financijskog pogleda ne isplati. Prekapčanje se u LTE-u može izvoditi na nekoliko načina, ovisno o potrebi. Ako se detektira zagušenje u mreži, određeni korisnički uređaji mijenjaju kanal kojim su povezani s baznom stanicom te se u tom slučaju koristi intra-cell prekapčanje. Prilikom korisnikova kretanja potrebno je pokrenuti inter-cell prekapčanje. Prekapčanja se izvode kroz jedno od dva sučelja, sučelje X2 ili sučelje S1. Automatski se odabire sučelje X2, ali ponekad je potrebno koristiti sučelje S1. Primjerice, ako se prilikom prekapčanja mora promijeniti MME, potrebno je izvesti prekapčanje kroz sučelje S1 jer sučelje X2 ne podržava promjenu MME-a.

Abstract (english)

In general, there are two types of handover – hard handover and soft handover. Only hard handover is used in LTE. The reason for that is very high cost of implementation of soft handover. Inside LTE there are several different ways that handover can be executed depending on the reason for starting one in the first place. If there is a channel getting overloaded, eNB will start intra-cell handover and switch some of the connected UEs to another channel within the same eNB. UE movement will trigger inter-cell handover when it is leaving area of coverage of some eNB. Handovers can be executed through one of two interfaces, X2 interface or S1 interface. By default, eNBs are deciding to use the X2 interface. However, if MME needs to be changed during the handover, eNB must use the S1 interface as the X2 interface does not support the changing of MMEs.
