Abstract

Problem čije rješenje se predlaže, segmentacija je fotografija lica za identifikacijske dokumente na pet regija: koža, kosa, ramena, pozadina i okvir. Glavna motivacija za odabir problema je provođenje testova kvalitete za uključivanje fotografija u elektroničke putovnice. Provedena je analiza odabranoga problema segmentacije. Na temelju generaliziranoga problema predložen je koncept postupka segmentacije fotografija čije regije znatno variraju. Predložen je postupak za automatsku segmentaciju fotografija za identifikacijske dokumente koji je dobiven prilagodbom predoženoga koncepta konkretnomu problemu. Predloženi postupak segmentacije sastoji se od tri koraka. U prvom koraku segmentacija je niže razine s ciljem ekstrakcije bitnih i odbacivanja nebitnih informacija iz slike. U drugom koraku riječ je o označavanju rezultata dobivenih prvim korakom pomoću apriori znanja iz domene odabranoga problema. Za implementaciju znanja predložena je upotreba ekspertnoga sustava pomoću kojeg je formulirano i pohranjeno potrebno znanje. Treći korak obrada je rezultata označavanja ekspertnim sustavom pomoću morfoloških operacija, a uvjetovan je kompromisnim rješenjima u prva dva koraka. Provedena je validacija eksperimentalnih rezultata segmentacije formirane baze testnih slika. Validacija je provedena predloženom metodom koja nastoji uzeti u obzir nepouzdanost rezultata ručne segmentacije korištenih u validaciji. Na dva testa kvalitete fotografija provjerena je primjenjivost predložene metode segmentacije.

Abstract (english)

A segmentation method for segmentation of photographs for identification documents into five regions (skin, hair, shoulders, background and padding frame) has been proposed. A framework of the solution has been proposed, on the basis of the generalized problem. An automatic procedure for the segmentation of photographs for identification documents has been developed on the basis of the framework. The first step of the procedure performs a low level segmentation, aimed at extraction of the relevant information from the image, while discarding the irrelevant information. In the second step, a knowledge-based labelling of the results of the first step is performed by utilizing specific knowledge from the problem domain implemented trough expert system. Morphological processing of the labelling results represents the third step which is required due to compromises made in the first two steps. Validation of the proposed segmentation procedure has been conducted by comparing segmentation results with the results of manual segmentation. An image data base has been created for that purpose and validation method has been adjusted to eliminate influence of the errors in a manual segmentation used for validation. Two sample test of quality have been used in testing the applicability of the proposed segmentation method.
