Abstract

The topic of this master's thesis is real time guide wire tracking and 3D reconstruction. Guide wire and guiding catheter navigation is of utmost importance for successful endovascular interventions. Physicians usually use monoplane 2D medical imaging x-ray devices as navigational aids, however, such devices do not provide a real 3D position that is desireable for more accurate and shorter procedure. We use 2D monoplane x-ray imaging to track the guide wire. With the help of preoperatively acquired volume a 3D guide wire reconstruction is possible. All aspects of such automatic tracking and reconstruction system are discussed. A prototype system that achieves real-time performance of up to 12 frames per second is described.

Abstract (croatian)

Istraživačko područje ovog rada je praćenje i rekonstrukcija 3D položaja katetera u realnom vremenu. Tijekom endovaskularnih zahvata navigacija i praćenje kretanja katetera su od neizmjerne važnosti. Liječnici uobičajeno kao pomagala pri navigaciji koriste jednoravninske rentgenske uređaje, no takvi uređaji ne nude stvarni 3D položaj koji je poželjan jer omogućuje točniju i kraću intervenciju. U radu jer prikazano korištenje 2D jednoravninskog rentgenskog uređaja za praćenje katetera. Uz dostupan preoprativno snimljeni volumen 3D rekonstrukcija katetera je moguća. U radu su detaljno opisani svi koraci automatskog praćenja i rekonstrukcije katetera. Opisan je i prototipni sustav koji ostvaruje praćenje u stvarnom vremenu brzniom od 12 slika u sekundi.
