Abstract

STM32WB mikrokontroler omogućuje implementaciju naprednih čvorova bežične senzorske mreže temeljenih na optimiranoj dvojezgrenoj arhitekturi uz vrlo nisku potrošnju energije. Platforma podržava komunikaciju putem 802.15.4 i Bluetooth protokola. U okviru rada proučene su mogućnosti STM32WB mikrokontrolera, s posebnim fokusom na napredne mogućnosti poput različitih načina rada niske potrošnje te IPCC inter-procesorskog komunikacijskog kontrolera i HSEM sklopovskih semafora. Proučena je i ispitana OpenThread implementacija Thread protokola na STM32WB mikrokontroleru. Provedena su eksperimentalna ispitivanja protočnosti i latencije te uspješnost slanja paketa pri različitim uvjetima. Mogućnosti Thread protokola uspoređene su s drugim protokolima za mesh mreže, poput Bluetooth Mesh a i Zigbee protokola. Implementirana je pokazna poljoprivredna aplikacija kroz koju su demonstrirane mogućnosti korištenja Thread protokola na STM32WB mikrokontroleru.

Abstract (english)

The STM32WB microcontroller enables the implementation of advanced wireless sensor network nodes based on optimized dual-core architecture with very low power consumption. The platform supports communication via 802.15.4 and Bluetooth protocols. In this thesis the STM32WB microcontroller capabilities were studied, with a focus on advanced features, such as various low power consumption modes, along with IPCC inter-processor communication controller and HSEM hardware semaphores. The OpenThread implementation of Thread protocol was studied and tested on STM32WB microcontroller. The characteristics of Thread protocol, such as throughput, latency, and packet delivery error rate, were experimentally evaluated under different conditions. Capabilities of Thread protocol were compared with other wireless mesh network protocols, such as Bluetooth Mesh and Zigbee. Sample agricultural application was implemented to demonstrate capabilities of Thread protocol running on the STM32WB microcontroller.
