Abstract

Ovaj rad je posvećen analizi nove komutacijske paradigme u optičkim mrežama, tj. optičkoj komutaciji snopova (OBS – Optical Burst Switching). Optička komutacija snopova predstavlja najbolje rješenje u pogledu iskorištenja raspoloživih kapaciteta u optičkim mrežama s obzirom na razvojni stupanj optičke transmisijske tehnologije. Budući da je to relativno nova tehnika te još nije standardizirana u radu je provedena analiza od samih protokola i arhitektura do konkretnih problema vezanih uz spomenutu komutacijsku tehniku. Konkretno, u rada su analizirani signalizacijski protokoli koji implementiraju paradigmu komutacije snopova. Nadalje, u radu je dan pregled arhitektura mrežnih elemenata od kojih jedna bila računalno modelirana i implementirana s ciljem simulacijske analize drugih problema OBS-a. Od problema proučavane su tehnike alociranja mrežnih resursa, načini uvođenja kvalitete usluge, mehanizmi rješavanja sukoba te prometne karakteristike. Provedenim analizama pokazane su prednosti odnosno nedostatci pojedinih rješenja s ciljem pronalaska najboljeg rješenja.

Abstract (english)

This work is dedicated to analysis of the new switching paradigm in optical networks, i.e. Optical Burst Switching (OBS). Optical burst switching present the best solution in case of efficient usage of available capacities in the optical networks in consideration of development level of optical transmission equipment. Because this is relatively new switching technique and it is not standardized, this work brings analysis from signalization protocols and architecture to the some issues related to the mentioned technique. Precisely, in this work signalization protocols, which implement this switching technique, are analyzed. Further, this work brings overview of architectures of network elements, where one of them was computer modeled and implemented with propose of analysis other issues in OBS. Issues that were analyzed are data scheduling algorithms, implementation of CoS (Class of Service), contention resolution schemes and traffic aggregators and characteristics. With those analyses, it was shown advantages and disadvantages of particular solutions, where goal was finding the best solution.
