Abstract
Zbog redundancije u mrežama koja je potrebna kako bi se udovoljilo zahtjevima korisnika, te osigurala stabilnost mreže u slučaju kvara ili promjena unutar topologije, postoji opasnost od pojave aktivnih petlji. Kako bi se spriječila pojava aktivnih petlji, nastao je protokol STP, definiran standardom IEEE 802.1D. Kroz njegovu upotrebu u mrežama, primijećeni su neki nedostaci koji su ispravljeni novim, IEEE 802.1w standardom.
Abstract (english)
Due to redundancy in the networks which is required to satisfy customer requirments and to provide stability of the network when failure or topology change occurs there is a risk of active loops in network topology. In order to prevent the occurrence of active loops, the STP protocol was developed and defined as IEEE 802.1D standard. To improve some disadvantages of 802.1D standard, new standard IEEE 802.1w was defined.
