Abstract

Računalni oblak je svojim razvojem pružio nove mogućnosti za postojeće, ali i za razvoj novih višemedijskih usluga. Tako je industrija računalnih igara uvidjela priliku za pokretanje nove usluge – igre zasnovane na računalnom oblaku. Ideja je da se igra nalazi u oblaku, pa korisnik više ne mora imati računalo ili konzolu snažne konfiguracije, već je dovoljan pristup mreži i uređaj koji može generirati naredbe koje se šalju u oblak i ima mogućnost prikazati generirani sadržaj nastao kao odgovor na ranije poslane naredbe.
U ovome radu je izvršena analiza objektivnih metrika video sadržaja generiranog korištenjem usluge igara zasnovanih na računalnom oblaku. Video sadržaj je dobiven kroz eksperimente u laboratorijsku okruženju na Fakultetu elektrotehnike i računarstva koristeći uslugu Steam In-Home Streaming. Rezultati provedenih analiza su nam ukazali na razlike u prostornoj i vremenskoj složenosti analiziranih igara. Pokazano je da igre različitih žanrova i različite dinamike imaju različite distribucije te se razlikuju u svojim minimalnim i maksimalnim SI i TI vrijednostima.

Abstract (english)

Rapid development of cloud computing enables new possibilities for the existing technologies, and the development of new multimedia services. Hence, the gaming industry came with the a new paradigm – cloud gaming. The cloud gaming is a service where the game content is stored entirely on the cloud, therefore the user doesn't need a powerful hardware to access the game content. Instead the user only needs a network access and a device with capability of handling and sending the user commands to the cloud, and displaying the generated game content received in a form of video stream from the cloud.
This paper contains an analysis of objective video metrics for the videos generated using a cloud gaming service. The video content was recorded during the experiments performed in the laboratory environment at the Faculty of Engineering and Computing using the service Steam In-Home Streaming. Results of the games we analyzed showed the differences in spatial and temporal complexity. The games of different genres and different dynamics have shown that their distributions and minimum and maximal SI and TI values are different.
