Abstract

Programski upravljane mreže su budućnost telekomunikacija i veliki korak napretka u ovoj grani ineženjerstva. U zadnjih 20-ak godina niti jedan veliki događaj nije omogućio napredovanje u tolikoj mjeri u kojoj će to napraviti koncept programski upravljanih mreža. Štoviše, pitanja koja ćemo sebi postavljati za najviše 5 godina su: „Gdje smo bili dosada? Zašto nam je trebalo toliko dugo vremena da bi se dosjetili nečega tako logičnog? Kako su inženjeri prije primjene ovog koncepta mogli živjeti? Mora da im je bilo teško.“. Možda se čini kao da pretjerujem, ali vjerujte mi na riječ. Konvencionalni pristup će nam se činiti jako zastarjeli pristup kojeg skoro više nitko neće koristi. Protokol OpenFlow je standardizirani protokol ONF-a pomoću kojeg centralizirani upravljači i komutatori komuniciraju. Kako je ta komunikacija jako bitna i mora se osigurati neometan promet, komunikacija se odvija sigurnim kanalom TLS (engl. Transport Layer Security) sesije. Kada OpenFlow komutator primi dolazni paket on ga obrađuje na način da vidi da li se sadržaj polja paketa podudara s tablicom toka OpenFlow komutatora. Ako se tok pronađe, tada komutator obavlja odgovarajuću akciju. No, ako tok nije pronađen daljnja akcija ovisi o konfiguraciji i implementaciji komutatora. U većini slučajeva paket se ili odbacuje ili se prosljeđuje do OpenFlow upravljača koji određuje što će napraviti s njim. Sloj virtualizacije se nalazi između kontrolnog i fizičkog sloja, te je njegova uloga odvajanje prometa koji je nepotreban. FlowVisitor je uređaj koji putem određenih pravila svakom upravljačkom uređaju dodijeljuje dio mreže kojeg će upravljač nadzirati i s kojom će upravljati. Na ovaj način se mreža može odijeliti na više dijelova.

Abstract (english)

Software defined networks or software driven networks are future of telecommunications and a huge step towards huge progress in this branch of engineering. In the last 20 years neither one event has allowed this kind of progress as the software defined networks will do. Moreover, the questions we will be asking ourselves, in no more than 5 years are: Where have we been untill now? What have we been doing so far? Why it took us so long to get an idea of something so logical? How did engineers worked before this? It must have been so hard to them. It could seem as i am exaggerating, but trust me on my word. Conventional approach will seem to us so old. Almost no one will use it anymore. Protocol OpenFlow is standardized protocol by ONF. Using that protocol controllers and switches communicate to each other. That communication is very important, so it must conduct in security enviroment and secure channel TLS session. When OpenFlow switch gets a packet, switch handles it and checks if the content of packet concut with flow table inside OpenFlow switch. If the flow has been found then the switch does the action. If the flow has not been found, the action depends on the configuration and implementation of the switch. But in most cases, packets are being dumped or forwarded to OpenFlow controller which knows what to do with that packet. Virtualization layer is between controll and physical layer, and his role is to abstract traffic that is unnecessary. FlowVisor is a device which assignes to every controller, by certain defined rules, a part of the network for which that controller is responsible to inspect and controll. On this way the network can be separated into more parts.
