Abstract

Q – prekapčanje tehnika je generiranja laserskih impulsa varijacijom gubitaka odnosno Q – faktora laserskog rezonatora. Laserski izvor s Q – prekapčanjem trebao bi imati aktivni medij, pumpu kojom se dovodi energija u taj medij te na neki način izvedenu Q – sklopku kojom će moći mijenjati gubici unutar rezonatora. U ovom radu opisan je eksperimentalno izveden takav svjetlovodni laser. Spojene su konfiguracije s erbijem dopiranim svjetlovodnim pojačalom duljina 9, 18 i 36 metara čime su ostvarene kako različite duljine rezonatora tako i pojačanja snage. Kako je prethodno teoretski predviđeno, trajanje impulsa ovisi o pojačanju koje se može mijenjati snagom laserske pumpe, ali i ciklusom takta modulacijskog signala. Kao Q – sklopka korišten je elektro - optički modulator koji je polarizacijski osjetljiva komponenta zbog čega rezultati u eksperimentu variraju. Međutim, utvrđene su pravilnosti zbog kojih su ova mjerenja valjana.

Abstract (english)

Q – switching is a laser pulse generation technique which is based on resonator losses variation. Q – switched laser source should have active medium, pump that brings energy to it and a Q – switch in the resonator by which the losses would be changed. In this paper experimentally constructed fiber laser of that kind is described. There were three configurations, with 9, 18 and 36 - meter erbium doped fiber amplifier. Thus the length of the resonator and amplification are variated. As it has been previously theoretically described, the duration of the pulses depends of the amplification that can be changed by pump power or by adjusting the modulation signal duty cycle. Electro – optic modulator that is used as a Q – switch is a polarisation sensible component which is the reason why the results in the experiment variate. However, there have been regularities which make these measurements valid.
