Abstract

Rad istražuje mogućnosti implementacije algoritma za dekompresiju JPEG datoteka jaguar biblioteke razvijene na Fakultetu elektrotehnike i računarstva na ARM i RISC-V arhitekturama procesora. Za potrebe implementacije dekodera na ARM arhitekturi korištena je Xilinx PYNQ-Z1 pločica te alati Vivado i Vitis za dizajniranje sklopa i programiranje pločice. U radu su opisani i načini dobivanja JPEG datoteke na ulazu dekodera te dohvaćanje podataka na izlazu pločice. U slučaju RISC-V arhitekture procesora ostvarena je veza sa superračunalom u Barceloninom superračunalnom centru. Za potrebe testiranja i realizacije korištena je implementacija spomenutog algoritma na x86 arhitekturi procesora. Cilj rada je pokazati da se ovaj algoritam za dekompresiju može jednostavno implementirati na raznim arhitekturama procesora.

Abstract (english)

The paper explores the possibilities of implementing a JPEG file decompression algorithm from the jaguar library developed on Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing on ARM and RISC-V processor architectures. For the purpose of implementing the decoder on the ARM processor architecture, a PYNQ-Z1 board is used along with Vitis and Vivado programming tools for designing the hardware and programming the board. The paper also covers the way JPEG files are given to the decoder as input and the way resulting data is acquired from the board. In the case of the RISC-V architecture, a connection with the supercomputer from Barcelona's Supercomputing Center is formed. For the purposes of testing and realisation, an existing implementation on x86 processor architecture is used. The goal of this paper is to show that this decompressing algorithm can be easily implemented on various processor architectures.
