Abstract

Numerički modeli atmosfere (eng. Numerical Weather Prediction - NWP) koriste se za predikciju vremena i izradu vremenskih prognoza. Temelje se na rješavanju jednadžbi dinamike fluida i termodinamičkih jednadžbi, a kako se radi o diferencijalnim jednadžbama koje nije moguće riješiti analitički, za njihovo rješavanje se koriste numeričke metode integracije koje se izvršavaju na superračunalima velike procesorske moći. Zadatak ovog rada je istražiti dostupne platforme i alate za istraživanje i prognozu vremena temeljene na numeričkim modelima atmosfere (NWP). Postojeća rješenja usporediti sa sustavom za numeričko predviđanje vremena Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF). Istražiti mogućnosti korištenja NWP softverskih alata na poslužiteljskom računalu u svrhu izrade kratkoročnih prognoza vremena na temelju meteoroloških podataka javno dostupnih na internetu te podataka sa realnih meteoroloških postaja.

Abstract (english)

Numerical weather prediction (NWP) models are used for weather prediction and forecasting. They are based on solving fluid dynamics and thermodynamic equations, and since these equations are differential equations that cannot be solved analytically, numerical integration methods are used to solve them on high-performance supercomputers. The purpose of this study is to explore available platforms and tools for weather research and forecasting based on NWP models. Existing solutions are compared with the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) system for numerical weather prediction. The study also investigates the possibility of using NWP software tools on a server computer for short-term weather forecasting based on meteorological data publicly available on the internet, as well as data from real meteorological stations.
