Abstract

U radu predstavljamo problem detekcije sudara u simulacijama fizikalnih sustava.
Dajemo pregled većine popularnih metoda za ubrzanje široke faze detekcije sudara,
opisujemo njihova svojstva i situacije za koje su namijenjene, objašnjavamo osnovu
nekih od heuristika koje se koriste za njihovu konstrukciju. U sklopu rada implementiramo
podskup tih metoda te objašnjavamo detalje naše implementacije tih postupaka koji bi
mogli biti relevantni. Analiziramo metode ubrzanja široke faze detekcije sudara uključene
u jednom od postojećih sustava otvorenog koda za fizikalnu simulaciju, te u tom sustavu
izgrađujemo par scena na kojima ispitujemo performanse raspoloživih metoda za ubrzanje
detekcije sudara.

Abstract (english)

In this thesis, we present the problem of collision detection in physics simulations.
We survey some popular methods for broad-phase collision detection, describing their properties and intended uses;
we explain the basics of some of the heuristic used in these methods. As part of the thesis, we implement a selection
of these methods and explain relevant implementation details. We analyze the methods of broad-phase collision detection
which are part of an existing open-source system for physics simulation, and using that system, create a few scenes on which
we measure the performance of the available methods for broad-phase collision detection.
