Abstract

U ovom radu se obrađuju višeslojna optička vlakna metodom spektralne analize. Za opisivanje i analizu rasprostiranja elektromagnetskog vala koristi se rastav u cilindrične modove i prikaz preko Hankelovih i Besselovih funkcija prve i druge vrste. Kroz primjer planarnih višeslojnih struktura uvodi se koncept Greenovih funkcija u spektralnoj domeni. Višeslojna optička vlakna se predstavljaju modelom koncentričnih dielektričnih cilindara pri čemu se pretpostavlja da svaki sloj ima različita elektromagnetska svojstva. Za proračun i određivanje transmisijskih modova koristi se opća prijenosna matrica. Za analizu svjetlovoda razvijen je program FiberModes u programskom paketu MATLAB koji je korišten za određivanje modova rasprostiranja. Na primjeru dvoslojnog svjetlovoda metoda je detaljno ispitana te je naglašen problem pojavljivanja nepostojećih modova. Ova metoda se može koristiti kao osnova za razvoj programskih alata za dizajn različitih dielektričnih višeslojnih elektromagnetskih struktura.

Abstract (english)

In this work the spectral method analysis and modeling of multilayer optical fibers using cylindrical modes and Bessel and Hankel functions of the first and second kind is presented. The basic principles and advantages of Green’s functions in the spectral domain are first introduced and then described through the example of planar multilayer structure. Multilayer optical fiber is modeled with the concept of concentric dielectric cylinders, each with different electromagnetic properties. The general transfer matrix approach is used in the analysis and applied for modal transmission analysis. The MATLAB program FiberModes is developed and used for calculus and profiling of transmission modes. The proposed method is thoroughly investigated with the example of two-layer optical fiber, and problem of presence of non-existing modes is addressed. The method can be used as a basis for development and design of software tools for other specialty optical fibers and fully dielectric multilayer cylindrical electromagnetic structures.
