Abstract

U radu je obrađen problem prijenosa vremenski osjetljivih informacija u višeuslužnim paketskim mrežama. Analizirane su tehnologije na sloju podatkovne veze s aspekta omogućavanja efikasnog prijenosa IP prometa velikim brzinama (155 Mbit/s i više). Napravljena je usporedba svojstava analiziranih tehnologija s ATM tehnologijom, koja se najčešće koristi na okosnicama širokopojasnih mreža, i međusobno.
Posebno je analiziran problem prijenosa vremenski osjetljivih informacija na IP mrežama koje koriste PoS prijenosnu tehnologiju. S obzirom da PoS, za razliku od ATM-a, nema mogućnost osiguranja kvalitete usluge, opisani su i analizirani algoritmi za osiguranje kvalitete usluge koji se primjenjuju na IP razini – PQ, CQ, WFQ, RED, WRED.
Napravljena je studija o primjeni novih tehnologija drugog sloja na primjeru Hrvatske akademske i istraživačke mreže (CARNet), uz uvjet osiguranja kvalitete usluge za ostvarivanje videokonferencija s visokom kvalitetom slike. Izvršena je simulacija videokonferencije na IP/PoS mreži između krajnjih tocaka u Splitu i Zagrebu. Simulirano je stvarno opterećenje i vršno opterećenje mreže uobičajenim IP prometom. Analizirani su i uspoređeni simulacijski rezultati za pojedine QoS algoritme i dane preporuke za njihovu praktičnu primjenu. Dokazano je da se i u slučajevima povremenog vršnog opterećenja mogu osigurati uvjeti za kvalitetan prijenos vremenski osjetljivih informacija.

Abstract (english)

This master thesis treats the problem of real-time information transport over multi-service packet networks. A thorough analysis of Data Link Layer technologies was carried out, especially from the point of view of the optimal high-speed transport of IP traffic. A comparison of the technologies analyzed and ATM, as the most frequently used backbone technology, was made.
A special attention was drawn to the transport of real-time information over IP networks, which use PoS as transport technology. PoS, unlike ATM, cannot ensure Quality of Service. Therefore, the thesis describes and analyzes IP QoS algorithms (PQ, CQ, WFQ, RED, WRED).
A case study on the implementation of alternative Data Link Layer technologies on the Croatian Academic and Research Network was performed. Its impact on real-time information transport was observed and simulated in point-to-point videoconferencing between Zagreb and Split. The implementation of QoS algorithms to the lightly utilized and highly loaded network was simulated. The results for various algorithms were compared and analyzed. The thesis also gives a recommendation for the use of specific algorithms. The point was proven that appropriate QoS for real-time information could be achieved even in the circumstances of occasional network congestions.
