Abstract

Reliable and efficient functioning of a modern electrical power distribution system, which comprises numerous interacting subsystems (components of distribution system itself, distributed energy sources, storage units and consumers), is becoming increasingly important due to the growing penetration of distributed intermittent energy sources in power distribution systems. The dynamic interaction of locally managed subsystems gives rise to complex dynamic behaviour of the overall system and can lead to large-scale disruptions, i.e. black-outs in the electric grid. Hence, to achieve optimal operation of the power system, the operator must take into account dynamic behavior and constraints of the system. This thesis describes several methods for optimal coordinated and robust control of electrical power distribution system that can cope with scalability issues while maintaining an appropriate level of optimality and constraint satisfaction. The developed methods are validated on a number of numerical case studies ranging from a simpler microgrid system to a more complex large-scale model of the overall power distribution system based on real data.

Abstract (croatian)

Pouzdano i učinkovito funkcioniranje suvremenog elektroenergetskog distribucijskog sustava, koji se sastoji od mnogobrojnih podsustava (komponente same distribucijske mreže, distribuirani izvori energije, jedinice za pohranu energije i potrošači), postaje sve važnije zbog rastuće zastupljenosti distribuiranih generatora u sustavima distribucije električne energije. Dinamička interakcija lokalno upravljanih podsustava dovodi do složenog dinamičkog ponašanja cjelokupnog sustava te može uzrokovati poremećaje velikih razmjera. Stoga, kako bi se postigao optimalan rad sustava, operater mora uzeti u obzir dinamičko ponašanje sustava kao i prisutna ograničenja. U sklopu doktorske disertacije opisano je nekoliko novih metoda optimalnog koordiniranog i robusnog upravljanja elektroenergetskim distribucijskim sustavom koje se mogu nositi s problemima skaliranja uz zadržavanje odgovarajuće razine optimalnosti i zadovoljenje ograničenja. Razvijene metode su ispitane na nekoliko numeričkih studija uključujući jednostavnije primjere mikromreža kao i složeniji realistični simulacijski model cjelokupnog sustava distribucije električne energije.
