Abstract
Protokol IS-IS služi za usmjeravanje IP paketa unutar jednog Autonomnog Sustava i vrsta je protokola za usmjeravanje IP paketa. Specifično, IS-IS je IGP i LS protokol, što znači da usmjerivači međusobno razmjenjuju informacije o topologiji s „najbližim susjedom“, odnosno s usmjerivačem koji je udaljen za jedan skok od njega samog. Informacije o topologiji se preplavljuju kroz AS tako da svaki usmjerivač s istim AS-om ima kompletnu sliku o topologiji AS-a. Ove informacije se koriste za računanje udaljenosti između usmjerivača i najkraćeg puta s jednog kraja mreže na drugi, najčešće koristeći Dijkstrin algoritam. Svi LS protokoli ovako odabiru slijedeći skok i tako najefikasnije usmjeravaju paket do njegovog ciljnog usmjerivača.
Abstract (english)
The IS-IS protocol is used to route IP packets within an Autonomous System and is a type of protocol for routing IP packets. Specifically, IS-IS is an IGP and LS protocol, which means that routers exchange topology information with the "nearest neighbour", sending the topology information to the router that is one jump away from itself. Topology information is flooded through the AS so that each router with the same AS has a complete picture of the AS topology. This information is used to calculate the distance between the router and the shortest path from one end of the network to the other, most commonly using Dijkstra's algorithm. All LS protocols thus select the next jump and most efficiently route the packet to its target router.
