Abstract

Cilj ovog diplomskog rada je bio dizajnirati i programski realizirati umreženu pokaznu igru, koja će prikazati učinke odabranih tehnika kompenzacije kašnjenja. Pokazna igra, nazvana „Tank Fight“, koncipirana je kao borba s tenkovima za do četiri igrača, i sadrži implementaciju dviju tehnika kompenzacije kašnjenja, samostalno predviđanje i premotavanje vremena. Provedena je analiza uspješnosti rada određene tehnike s obzirom na razne mrežne parametre te je pokazano da, u kontekstu gađanja protivničkog tenka, kompenzacija kašnjenja u igri dobro funkcionira do vrijednosti od 250 ms, dok se veće iznose mrežnog kašnjenja raste nesigurnost i smanjuje preciznost pogotka.

Abstract (english)

The goal of this thesis was to design and implement a networked game to demonstrate the effects of selected lag compensation techniques. The game, named „Tank Fight“, is designed as a tank battle for up to four players and includes the implementation of two lag compensation techniques: client-side prediction and time rewinding. The effectiveness of each technique was evaluated with respect to various network parameters. It was shown that, in the context of hitting an opponent's tank, lag compensation in the game works well up to a delay of 250 ms. However, with higher network delays, hit uncertainty increases, and accuracy decreases.
