Abstract

Ovaj diplomski rad predstavlja edukativni alat dizajniran za poboljšanje iskustva učenja za studente na kolegiju Bioinformatika 1 na Fakultetu elektrotehnike i računarstva (FER).
Projekt uključuje interaktivnu web-aplikaciju koja vizualno prikazuje korake ključnih bioinformatičkih algoritama, kao što su globalno poravnanje (Needleman-Wunsch), minimizeri (LCS i LIS), sufiksna stabla (Ukkonenov algoritam), sufiksna polja (SA-IS) i FM indeks. Omogućujući detaljne, korak-po-korak vizualizacije i unos korisničkih podataka, alat ima za cilj učiniti složene bioinformatičke koncepte pristupačnijima studentima, čime se poboljšava njihovo razumijevanje i angažman u predmetu.

Abstract (english)

This thesis presents an educational tool designed to enhance the learning experience for students enrolled in the Bioinformatics 1 course at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER).
The project includes an interactive web-based application that visually demonstrate the steps of key bioinformatics algorithms, such as global alignment (Needleman-Wunsch), minimizers (LCS and LIS), suffix trees (Ukkonen's algorithm), suffix arrays (SA-IS), and the FM index. By providing detailed, step-by-step visualizations and allowing user input, the tool aims to make complex bioinformatics concepts more accessible for students, thereby improving their comprehension and engagement with the subject matter.
