Abstract

Na početku ovog rada objašnjavamo temelje svakog TCP protokola. Njegovu strukturu, način prijenosa podataka i tehnike kojim ostvaruje pouzdanost veze. Nakon toga opisujemo novosti koje uvodi protokol TCP-Reno i zbog čega je bolji od običnog TCP protokola. Tu objašnjavamo tehniku izbjegavanja zagušenja i tehniku brzog oporavka koji je glavno svojstvo TCP-Reno protokola. Kako ne bismo ostali samo na teorijskom objašnjenju, provodimo smo testiranje protokola TCP-Reno u raznim situacijama i promatramo kako njegove tehnike upravljanja zagušenjem utječu na promet mreže. Testiranje smo provodimo koristeći alat Network Simulator, a rezultate prikazujemo u obliku grafova.

Abstract (english)

At the beginning of this paper, we explain the fundamentals of each TCP protocol. We explain its structure, method of data transmission and the technique by which TCP achieves the reliability of the connection. We then describe the innovations introduced by the TCP-Reno protocol and why it is better than the regular TCP protocol. Here we explain the congestion avoidance technique and the fast recovery technique which is the main feature of the TCP-Reno. In order not to rest only on a theoretical explanation, we conduct TCP-Reno protocol testing in various situations and observe how its congestion management techniques affect network traffic. We perform testing using the Network Simulator tool, and present the results in the form of graphs.
