Abstract
JPEG kompresija, najčešče je korištena metoda slikovne kompresije sve od kad je bila uvedena 1992. godine. Cilj ovog rada je ostvariti JPEG dekoder koji funkcionira na procesoru RISC-V arhitekture. Kao početnu točku uzima se već postojeći jaguar2020 dekoder, a provjera ispravnosti se zbog nedostatka fizičkog procesora obavlja na SSPARCSS simulatoru. Fokus je na dio koda jaguara koji služi za entropijsko (de)kodiranje, u ovom slučaju konkretno Huffmanov kod. Također je bilo potrebno razviti program preprocesor koji će RISC-V instrukcije pripremiti za izvođenje specifično na SSPARCSS simulatoru.
Abstract (english)
From the moment it has been introduced in 1992, the JPEG compression algorithm has been the most popular image compression standard. The goal of this paper is to implement a JPEG decoder which operates on a RISC-V CPU. As a baseline, we are going to be using the pre-existing jaguar2020 decoder, and to test the success of the program, the SSPARCSS simulator will be used, for lack of a physical RISC-V CPU. The focus will be on the process of entropy (de)coding, specifically using Huffman code in the jaguar decoder. It was also necessary to develop a preprocessor which will prepare RISC-V instructions for execution on the aforementioned SSPARCSS simulator.
