Abstract

Analiza nogometnih utakmica je ključna aktivnost u vođenju nogometne momčadi. Uobičajena je praksa snimati utakmicu statičnom kamerom zbog jednostavnosti tog procesa. No, priroda nogometa je takva da će, u datom trenutku, velik udio površine terena biti nezanimljiv promatraču. To svojstvo, u kombinaciji s činjenicom da su vremenska trajanja nogometnih utakmica relativno velika, čine analizu utakmice zamornom. Kako bi se promatranje i analiza utakmice olakšala i učinila ugodnijom, ideja je ostvariti sustav koji će automatski prilagoditi prikaz na čovjeku ugodan i koristan način.

Sustav za automatsku prilagodbu pogleda je ostvaren kao kombinacija dvije nezavisne komponente – virtualne kamere te skupa točaka i mjera zanimljivosti. Virtualna kamera sadrži vlastite funkcije kojima se nastoji postići čovjeku ugodan prikaz snimke. Točke i mjere interesa, svaka svojevrsno, određuju poziciju terena koja se čini zanimljivom. Neke od ovih točaka i mjera su: težište igre, područja visoke dinamičnosti i grupacije igrača metodom k-srednjih vrijednosti. Područja interesa se linearno kombiniraju i prosljeđuju virtualnoj kameri koja obavlja prilagodbu prikaza. Dodana su i heuristička pravila kao što su vektor tromosti igre i faktor gustoće igrača, kojima se nastoji postići oku ugodnije rezultate. Za dobivanje prostornih informacija o igračima koristi se detektor temeljen na metodi oduzimanja pozadine bez prepoznavanja lopte.

Evaluacija ovakvog sustava je svojevrsna enigma jer ne postoji jedinstveno ispravno rješenje, čime se uvodi velika doza subjektivnosti u prosudbu i ocjenjivanje rezultata sustava. Posljedica ovoga je otežana automatizacija finog ugađanja i samim time usporen proces evaluacije.

Tijekom slobodne igre, doima se kako ostvareni sustav proizvodi zadovoljavajuće rezultate. No, neke specifične situacije uzrokuju probleme, što je i za očekivati kao posljedicu uvjeta o ne detektiranju nogometne lopte. Čini se kako bi sustav bio zahvalan na ugradnji automatskog prepoznavanja i rješavanja ekspertnih situacija (npr. ispucavanja vratara, izvođenje udaraca iz kuta ili kaznenih udaraca)

Abstract (english)

The analysis of football games is a key activity when it comes to leading a football team. It's a common practice to record a football game using stationary cameras due to its simplicity. However, in any given moment, a large part of the football field will be of no interest to the viewer. This characteristic makes the analysis tiresome, especially when combined with the duration of football games. In order to make the viewing and analysis both easier and more comfortable, a system for automatic view adaption is to be made. Its task is to adjust the view in such way as to make viewing more enjoyable and useful.

The automated view adaptation system is made up of two independent components – a virtual camera, and a set of points and measurements of interest. The virtual camera contains built-in functions that ensure an enjoyable display. The points and measurements of interest define the most interesting point on the football pitch. Some of these are the following: center of the gameplay, highly dynamic areas, and the way the players are grouped via k-means algorithm. These areas of interest are linearly combined and fed to the virtual camera adjusting the display. Additionally, the system contains heuristics that are to make its decisions more humanlike, which is supposed to produce more pleasant results. A background subtraction detector is used to obtain the players' positional information, sporting a no-ball-identification policy.

The automated view adaption evaluation is such an enigma because there is no unique solution to the problem, making the evaluation and performance grading subjective. This makes the process of fine tuning and evaluation much more tiresome.

The system seems to produce satisfactory results during the match's free play. However, some specific game states cause problems for the system, which is to be expected having no information on the ball position. It seems the system would greatly benefit of having an automatic game state recognition implemented, which could prove useful during penalty kicks, goal kicks, and corner kicks.
