Abstract

U ovom radu obrađena je tema virtualizacije mrežnih funkcija. Virtualizacija mrežnih funkcija ukratko označava premještanje mrežnih funkcija s dedicirane i specijalizirane mrežne opreme (npr. usmjernik, vatrozid) na poslužiteljska računala.
Kao programska potpora za implementaciju takvog sustava korištena je platforma otvorenog tipa za virtualizaciju mrežnih funkcija, skraćeno OPNFV. OPNFV je projekt koji se razvija kroz suradnju zajednice i tvrtki specijaliziranih za područja mreža i telekomunikacija.
Na kraju rada uz prikazani postupak postavljanja takvog sustava na stvarni poslužitelj navedeni su i rezultati sintetičkog testa sustava iz kojih su vidljive velike mogućnosti u pogledu dviju najbitnijih stavki u ocjeni mrežnog sustava – brzine prijenosa podataka i vremena odziva.

Abstract (english)

The topic of this paper is network functions virtualization. Briefly, network functions virtualization describes the transfer of traditional network functions from specialized and dedicated network equipment (i.e. routers and firewalls) onto servers.
Software suite used for deployment of such system was Open Platform for Network Functions Virtualization, shortened known as OPNFV. OPNFV is a project that is being developed by the community and in collaboration with network and telecommunications vendors.
In final chapters of this paper a setup guide for described system shows the steps for successful deployment and synthetic benchmark test results show huge capabilities of virtualized network systems in terms of improving data throughput and network latency.
